Further Information

Anne Desir (chair of trustees) - became a trustee in 2009.

Born in Brussels, Belgium, she has been living in London for over 30 years. She studied modern languages (BA) and taught French to adults for 8 years. Following a PGCE course at the Institute of Education, she become a primary school teacher and has been teaching in Greenwich for the last 20 years.

She has also worked as a volunteer teacher and is now a trustee in charge of volunteers for a charity in India.

Gwawr Thomas - became a Trustee in March 2011.

As a barrister practising in immigration and asylum law, she takes a particular interest in AFRIL’s advice service. She also takes an active role in ensuring that AFRIL’s policies and practices comply with the provisions of employment and discrimination law, and that best practice is followed as regards issues such as safeguarding vulnerable clients and maintaining confidentiality.
